Basketball Recap: Cloudcroft Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lordsburg came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Cloudcroft, but Rylee Pahl wouldn't allow it. The Cloudcroft Bears took down the Lordsburg Mavericks 66-47 on Thursday thanks in part to Pahl, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Cloudcroft's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Cuilla, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high.

Lordsburg's loss came despite strong showings from Daniel Scott and Aaron Salazar. Scott made all 5 shots he took for 13 points and eight boards, while Salazar went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points. Cameron Saucedo was another key player, putting up seven points.

Cloudcroft moved to 9-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lordsburg, their record is now 7-12.

Cloudcroft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-47 victory against Capitan on the 4th. As for Lordsburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-58 win against Mescalero Apache on the 1st.
