Baseball Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Coronado unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Franklin Cougars by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Thunderbirds have suffered since February 27th.

Jaxon Baptist was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Coronado saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Franklin, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coronado is set to square off against their familiar foe Pebble Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Franklin will face off against rival Montwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
