Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Shadow Ridge had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Las Vegas Wildcats on Friday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 12-0 win last Wednesday.

Bryce Judd looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shadow Ridge is 2-1 when Judd allows one or fewer hits, but 9-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Oliver Schoppmann and Evan Noble did most of the damage at the plate: Schoppmann went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI, while Noble got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Schoppmann a new career-high. Dylan Foster also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Shadow Ridge's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-16. As for Las Vegas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16-1.

Looking ahead, Shadow Ridge will venture away from home to challenge Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Las Vegas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
