Basketball Game Preview: Bear River Bears vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle

Bear River hasn't had much luck against Juan Diego Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bears will host the Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m.

Bear River fought the good fight in their overtime game against Box Elder on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 50-46 to the Bees. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bees 16-7 in the first quarter.

Despite their loss, Bear River saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Samantha Theurer, who posted 17 points and seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Driggs, who had six points in addition to 13 boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Juan Diego Catholic hadn't done well against Juab recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. The Soaring Eagle snuck past the Wasps with a 47-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Soaring Eagle.

Bear River better focus on containing Niella Sebit and Ava Tita as the pair were huge in Juan Diego Catholic's win. Sebit shot 64% from the field en route to 25 points and three steals, while Tita dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Tita a new career-high in assists (three). Olivia Fry was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven boards and three steals.

Bear River now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
