Football Recap: Nolan Werts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newman Grove/St. Edward over Madison

Newman Grove/St. Edward lost against Madison back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers took a 32-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nolan Werts, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Bodonn Sweeney had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 297 yards and three scores while picking up 12.9 yards per carry for Madison. Those 297 rushing yards gave Sweeney a new career-high.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Madison, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.

As of now, neither Newman Grove/St. Edward nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
