Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Buena

Buena had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt The Pilgrim Academy on Monday. The Chiefs were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Pioneers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chiefs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Ben Cohen was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Richie Wilson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Buena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Pilgrim Academy only posted an OBP of .211.

The win was the fourth in a row for Buena, bringing their record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for The Pilgrim Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Buena beat the Pioneers by a score of 16-1 later that day.
