Recap: Homer Trojans vs. Jonesville Comets
This season hasn't been kind to The Homer Trojans, who are still winless after their eighth game. They lost to Jonesville at home by a decisive 32-18 margin on Friday. Homer was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jonesville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Nine players turned in solid performances, on Friday, but Homer still came up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Chamberlin, who threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns. addison easter also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Carson playford had a dynamite game for Jonesville, rushing for 185 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of John Milks, who rushed for 115 yards.
Homer's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.8 points per game. As for Jonesville, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homer will face off against Leslie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jonesville, they will head out on the road to face off against Michigan Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Michigan Center has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 237 points over their last six matches.
