Herlong posted their closest victory since October 17, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Westwood Lumberjacks. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-match losing streak.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-98) Herlong actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 17-25, 15-13.

Herlong's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Herlong wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Elk Creek on the 13th. As for Westwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Chester on the 15th.
