Baseball Recap: Montwood Victorious

Montwood took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Eastwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Montwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastwood on Saturday, sneaking past 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Troopers on Friday, they had to take a 14-1 defeat.

Juan Garcia was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Montwood: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaykob Gomez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Montwood moved to 10-11-2 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Eastwood, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-9-1.

Coming up, Montwood will square off against Socorro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastwood, they will face off against Hanks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
