Volleyball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Zhaniya Brown and Haley Carroll + How To Watch

Excelsior Classical Academy lost against Oxford Prep back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Flying Lions fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 3-2.

Excelsior Classical Academy couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Oxford Prep a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 15-6.

Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Haley Carroll, who had 20 digs and six kills, and Zhaniya Brown, who had nine digs, eight kills, and three blocks. Carroll is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Orozco, who had 15 assists.

Excelsior Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Oxford Prep, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Excelsior Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Falls Lake on the 26th. As for Oxford Prep, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Kerr-Vance Academy on the 27th.
