Basketball Game Preview: Grayslake Central Rams vs. Lake Forest Academy Caxys

The Grayslake Central Rams and the Lake Forest Academy Caxys will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grayslake Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Grayslake Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 69-50 win over North Chicago on Saturday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Warhawks are ranked 534th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

While Lake Forest Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat North Shore Country Day 57-24. The Caxys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Grayslake Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Lake Forest Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Grayslake Central didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lake Forest Academy in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory.
