The Merryville Panthers will head out to face off against the St. Louis Catholic Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Merryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Merryville made easy work of Pickering and carried off a 9-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Lainee Doyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Kyleigh Spillers was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Brynn Beard was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Merryville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. Louis Catholic came up short against Iota on Saturday, falling 14-3. The loss continues a trend for the Saints in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

St. Louis Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Merryville, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Merryville couldn't quite get it done against St. Louis Catholic in their previous matchup on Saturday as they fell 4-1. Can Merryville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
