Basketball Recap: Luling Comes Up Short

After flying high against Prairie Lea last Tuesday, Luling came back down to earth. The Luling Eagles took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lexington Eagles on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Luling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1270th, while Lexington is ranked 477th).

Lexington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alanna Mcfarlin led the charge by going 8 for 15 on her way to 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Bell, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Luling has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Lexington, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Luling didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-33 defeat against La Grange on the 26th. As for Lexington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-21 victory against Rice Consolidated on the 27th.
