Recap: George West Longhorns vs. Taft Greyhounds
The George West Longhorns pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 50-34 to Taft. George West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
George West's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caiden Salinas, who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Jonalbert Cisneros was another key contributor, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Taft had a senior duo take command as JJ Acosta threw for 466 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt and Enrique Rodriguez picked up 296 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Acosta is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played.
George West's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Taft, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
George West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Taft will take on Comfort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
