Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nordonia). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Royalton Bears on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since May 13, 2024.
Evan Leitner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.
At the plate, Justin Smigel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Leffel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Nordonia's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for North Royalton, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
