Basketball Recap: Birchwood Christian Takes a Loss

Birchwood Christian was the 77-69 winner over Nanwalek when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Birchwood Christian Warriors lost 78-57 to Nanwalek on Friday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Birchwood Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mi'Chale Bugh dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bugh has scored all season. Karsten Wetzel was another key player, putting up four points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Birchwood Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Birchwood Christian now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Nanwalek, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Birchwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nanwalek, they will head out on the road to face off against Cook Inlet Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Nanwalek has given up an average of 65 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
