Baseball Game Preview: Tuslaw Mustangs vs. Aquinas Knights

The Tuslaw Mustangs will take on the Aquinas Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tuslaw has three straight victories, Aquinas has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Tuslaw is returning to their home field after beating Garaway on theirs, despite the fact Garaway has dominated at home this season. The Mustangs walked away with a 7-3 win over the Pirates on Friday.

Andrew Shackle made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Shackle was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justin Pratt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cam Stevens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Aquinas lost 17-4 to John F. Kennedy Catholic on Tuesday.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Tuslaw, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.

Tuslaw took their win against Aquinas when the teams last played back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 26-1 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
