Basketball Recap: Central Montcalm Comes Up Short

Central Montcalm was the 51-48 winner over Tri County Area when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Montcalm Hornets fell 54-45 to the Tri County Area Vikings on Tuesday.

Connor Henry went supernova for Tri County Area, going 7-for-14 on his way to 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Henry is becoming a predictor of Tri County Area's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 4-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Josiah Locke, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Central Montcalm's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Tri County Area, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.

The future could be bright for both Central Montcalm and Tri County Area: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Central Montcalm will look to extend White Cloud's three-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Tri County Area will try to hand Reed City their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
