Preview: Potomac Falls Panthers vs. Heritage Pride
Potomac Falls is 5-0 against Heritage since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Potomac Falls Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Pride at 7:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Potomac Falls has nine straight victories, Heritage has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Potomac Falls has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 65-33 win over John Champe at home.
Potomac Falls' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johnny Opiola led the charge by scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Opiola hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Margenau, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Heritage suffered a tough 58-35 loss at the hands of Independence on Thursday. Heritage has struggled against Independence recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Potomac Falls' win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Heritage, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Potomac Falls against Heritage in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 75-35 win. With Potomac Falls ahead 44-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
