Baseball Game Preview: Hialeah Thoroughbreds vs. Coral Gables Cavaliers

The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will head out on the road to face off against the Coral Gables Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hialeah gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against South Miami by a score of 5-1.

Jordan Richardo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Richardo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Jude Fernadez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

Richardo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Devin Gil, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Coral Gables waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Panthers.

Julian Saveedra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Coral Gables' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hialeah, their record now sits at 6-9.

Hialeah suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Coral Gables in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Thoroughbreds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
