Volleyball Recap: Hilton Head Island Takes a Loss

Hilton Head Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the May River Sharks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Hilton Head Island actually scored more points across those five sets (107-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 26-24, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Hilton Head Island's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for May River, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Hilton Head Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Cardinal Newman on the 10th. As for May River, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Effingham County on the 8th.
