Basketball Recap: Torrington Raiders vs. Wolcott Eagles
After losing to the Wolcott Eagles the last time they met, the Torrington Raiders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Torrington took down the Eagles 48-34 on Friday. That's two games straight that Torrington has won by exactly 14 points.
Haley Burger continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Melissa Duman was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Torrington and bumps their season record up to 9-6. As for Wolcott, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrington will take on the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Watertown is ranked 49th, while the Raiders are ranked 67th). As for Wolcott, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
