Softball Recap: Greenbrier West Wins Going Away Against Van

The Greenbrier West Cavaliers made easy work of the Van Bulldogs on Friday and carried off a 13-1 victory. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Emma Edens and Kyndall Taylor made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Edens tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Taylor tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Edens has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Edens went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Taylor went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Edens a new career-high.

In other batting news, Preslee Treadway was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Brooklyn Adkins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base.

Greenbrier West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Van only posted an OBP of .211.

Greenbrier West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Van, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-22.

Greenbrier West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Van, they will face off against Tolsia at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
