Baseball Recap: Clay County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Clay County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Jackson County Blue Devils. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kale Trobaugh tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clay County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brayden Baskerville was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Clay County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Aiden Keen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Clay County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Clay County's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Jackson County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-19.

Looking ahead, Clay County will challenge Trousdale County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
