Football Game Preview: Kingswood Oxford Wyverns vs. St. Paul's Big Red

The Kingswood Oxford Wyverns will square off against the St. Paul's Big Red at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Kingswood Oxford got the win against St. Luke's by a conclusive 42-21. Considering the Wyverns have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Justin Morle produced another solid performance rushing for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception. Isley Biggins was another key rusher, rushing for 79 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Kingswood Oxford proved: they limited St. Luke's to a paltry 0.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Biggins for the heroic effort on defense: he. Kingswood Oxford didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.

Meanwhile, St. Paul's was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Sebastian's School on Saturday, taking the game 14-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Big Red's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in New Hampshire, while the Arrows are ranked 69th in Massachusetts).

Kingswood Oxford's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for St. Paul's, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Kingswood Oxford took a serious blow against St. Paul's in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, falling 41-8. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wyverns were down 41-0.
