Baseball Recap: Presbyterian Christian Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Presbyterian Christian rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Hartfield Academy Hawks by a score of 9-4. Surprisingly, this marked the Bobcats' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Bankston Walters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has become a key player for Presbyterian Christian: the team is 13-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Reed Bridges was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Brennon Thoms was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Presbyterian Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-14. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hartfield Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 28-8.

As of now, neither Presbyterian Christian nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
