Basketball Game Preview: Silver Creek Dragons vs. Beech Grove Hornets

The Silver Creek Dragons will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Beech Grove Hornets at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Silver Creek has eight straight victories, Beech Grove has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Silver Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Bedford North Lawrence, taking the game 59-51. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Stars are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dane Sprigler was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 11 on his way to 26 points and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Mclaughlin, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Beech Grove was beaten by Roncalli 61-33 on Saturday.

Beech Grove's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Silver Creek, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
