Volleyball Recap: University Bulldogs vs. Eaton Reds
After flying high against Brush last Thursday, University came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Eaton Reds by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Reds when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
University wouldn't go down easily and took Eaton into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The final score came out to 25-12, 21-25, 23-25, 25-7, 15-8.
Delaney Lauer paced University's offense, picking up 17 kills. Lauer got some help from Kenley Rudiger and her 40 assists. Rudiger also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jordan Halley, each putting up two.
Eaton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katie St Jean led the charge by getting 12 digs and two aces. Those 12 digs gave St Jean a new career-high. Hayden Logan was another key player, getting 14 digs and one assist.
Having lost for the first time this season, University fell to 7-1. As for Eaton, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.
