Softball Recap: Riverside Vikings vs. Mid Valley Spartans
Riverside extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-11. They lost 14-1 to the Mid Valley Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in April.
As for Mid Valley, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
For Mid Valley's part, Ava Hazelton tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Hazelton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Angela Laskowski, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Addison Frein was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
