Baseball Recap: Murrieta Valley Takes a Loss

Murrieta Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Chaparral on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pumas by a score of 10-9. The Nighthawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pumas earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Brady Norman and Wes Gomes did some serious damage despite the final result: Norman went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Gomes went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Norman's first of the season. Aidyn Gutierrez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Murrieta Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Chaparral, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-10.

While Murrieta Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
