Recap: Ellinwood Eagles vs. Lyons Lions
There's no place like home for the Ellinwood Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-26 win over Lyons on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Ellinwood also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Ellinwood found their leader in underclassman Julia Schlessiger, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Stickney, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Ellinwood's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. As for Lyons, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1.
Ellinwood will head out on the road to square off against St. John on Monday. St. John is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games. As for Lyons, they will be playing at home against Smoky Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smoky Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lyons in Kansas (Smoky Valley is ranked 79th, while Lyons is ranked 317th).
