Soquel and San Lorenzo Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Soquel Knights will challenge the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Soquel is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Soquel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Everett Alvarez on Tuesday as Soquel made off with a 24-2 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 25, 2020, but that streak is no more.
Luke Shoemaker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other pitching news, Kane Humecky looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Hudson Summerrill was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Noah Piona, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo Valley came up short against Wilcox on Wednesday and fell 8-3.
Jaden Shabry was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Soquel pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Soquel beat San Lorenzo Valley 6-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Soquel have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Lorenzo Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
