Baseball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-4 to the Coeur d'Alene Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 17-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lakeland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Averitt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that Averitt scored this season.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Coeur d'Alene, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coeur d'Alene beat Lakeland by a score of 3-0 later that day.
