Softball Game Preview: Corsicana Tigers vs. Midlothian Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Corsicana Tigers face off against Midlothian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Corsicana lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Kaufman, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. Everything went Corsicana's way against Kaufman on Wednesday as Corsicana made off with a 17-2 win. The matchup marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Midlothian came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Hawks. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Midlothian got a great performance from Abby Insley as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Aniyah Givens was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Jocelyn Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Midlothian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Corsicana, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8-1.
