Basketball Recap: Samantha Amaya's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williams over Mogollon

With Williams's effective field goal percentage at 91% and Mogollon's at 25% on Monday, the final result was to be expected on Monday. The Williams Vikings fell 37-29 to the Mogollon Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samantha Amaya, who posted ten points. Ava Burrell was another key player, putting up seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mogollon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kindsey Porter, who put up ten points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Porter, who scored seven points and four steals.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Mogollon, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-24 loss against Rock Point on the 1st. As for Mogollon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 30-29 win against St. David on the 30th.
