Football Recap: Santa Rita Takes a Loss

Santa Rita lost against Tombstone back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles were dealt a 63-6 defeat at the hands of the Yellow Jackets.

It was another big night for Xavier Lopez, who rushed for 202 yards and four scores on only 11 carries for Tombstone. The team also got some help courtesy of DeShawyne Stewart, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.

Santa Rita's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Tombstone, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Coming up, Santa Rita will challenge Palo Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tombstone, they will face off against Bisbee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will be up against the Pumas' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.71 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
