Softball Recap: Helix Starts Season with Win Against Mar Vista

Helix had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Mar Vista Mariners 12-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Highlanders have posted against the Mariners since March 31, 2016.

Helix got a massive performance out of Tatiana Hernandez-Ahmu, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Hernandez-Ahmu a new career-high in RBI. Lauren Farace was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Looking ahead, Helix will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Southwest EC at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mar Vista, they will square off against Bayfront Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
