Basketball Game Preview: Lanier Christian Academy Lightning vs. Valor Christian Lions

The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning are taking a road trip to challenge the Valor Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Last Thursday, everything went Lanier Christian Academy's way against Peachtree Academy as Lanier Christian Academy made off with a 48-23 victory.

Emma Flowers had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelyn Gough, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Lanier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Valor Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 56 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Falcons 64-39. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Falcons are ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valor Christian's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Lanier Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
