Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Blue Devils vs. St. Paul/Palmer Wildcats

Wayne is a perfect 3-0 against St. Paul/Palmer since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Wayne has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Wayne after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Mount Michael Benedictine by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Kneifl, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, St. Paul/Palmer unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against Central City/Centura, falling 10-4.

St. Paul/Palmer's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wayne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Paul/Palmer struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Paul/Palmer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 10-6. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
