Football Recap: Floydada Comes Up Short

Floydada was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Abernathy Antelopes and fell 55-14. The Whirlwinds lost against the Antelopes in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-0 score last time.

Floydada's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Abernathy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Floydada will take on rival Post at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Abernathy is set to face off against their familiar foe Olton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
