Basketball Game Preview: Wheat Ridge Farmers vs. D'Evelyn Jaguars

Wheat Ridge hasn't had much luck against D'Evelyn recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wheat Ridge Farmers will look to defend their home court against the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Wheat Ridge is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game on Friday. They took a blow against Golden, falling 58-20. While losing is never fun, the Farmers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Demons are ranked 64th).

D'Evelyn has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-43 heartbreaker at the hands of Green Mountain. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jaguars have suffered since February 15, 2024.

Wheat Ridge will need to focus on slowing down Ellie McMann, one of several D'Evelyn players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattie Esquibel, who scored nine points.

D'Evelyn's defeat dropped their record down to 17-2. As for Wheat Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.

Wheat Ridge was dealt a bruising 66-9 defeat at the hands of D'Evelyn when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Wheat Ridge, Peyton Marvel (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
