Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Caldwell Cougars

The Mountain View Mavericks will take on the Caldwell Cougars in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mountain View sitting on four straight victories and Caldwell on three.

Last Friday, Mountain View earned a 62-52 win over Minico.

Mountain View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Patterson out in front who went 8 for 17 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Patterson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Tolman, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Caldwell hadn't done well against Mountain Home recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The stars were shining brightly for Caldwell in a 61-45 win over Mountain Home. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Caldwell's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
