Football Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains
Wheatmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Bishop McGuinness Villains at home and fell 46-12. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Villains apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Bishop McGuinness had a senior duo take command as Alex Waterfield threw for 113 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes and Isaac Ross gained 99 total yards and two touchdowns. Ross didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended four passes. Patrick Graves also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Wheatmore's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bishop McGuinness, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Wheatmore will be playing in front of their home fans against South Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop McGuinness, they will take on Community School of Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Community School of Davidson focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four last Thursday.
