The Brillion Lions will take on the Two Rivers Purple Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Brillion 2.7, Two Rivers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Brillion's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Manitowoc Lutheran 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Amaya Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kara Hedrich, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Two Rivers' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valders.
Two Rivers also got a good showing from Anna Klein, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Klein has allowed since back in April.
On the hitting side, Two Rivers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Leist, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sydney Arnold also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
The win made it two in a row for Brillion and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Two Rivers, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Two Rivers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brillion has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. It's a different story for Two Rivers, though, as they've only averaged .328. Will they be able to contain Brillion's hitters?
Brillion beat Two Rivers 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
