Baseball Game Preview: Ardrey Kell Knights vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres

For the second straight game, Ardrey Kell will face off against South Mecklenburg. The Knights will host the Sabres at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ardrey Kell 3.9, South Mecklenburg 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Ardrey Kell didn't have quite enough to beat South Mecklenburg and fell 6-4. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Sabres recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For South Mecklenburg's part, Connor Longley tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Longley a new career-high.

On the hitting side, South Mecklenburg's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Luke-Judy, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Luke-Judy a new career-high.

Ardrey Kell's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for South Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
