Terra Nova came tearing into Saturday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Mountain View Spartans. Terra Nova's win was all the more impressive since the Spartans were averaging only three runs allowed on the season.

Luke Ornelas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ornelas was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Donati, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Snead, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Terra Nova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Terra Nova pushed their record up to 8-2-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.

Terra Nova wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-2 victory against Woodside on the 2nd. As for Mountain View, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 loss against Los Gatos on the 2nd.
