Softball Recap: Cape Henry Collegiate Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Cape Henry Collegiate put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors a 15-0 shutout. The Dolphins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ambassadors, too.

Cape Henry Collegiate let Leylana Dininny and Macie Konikoff run wild. Dininny went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Konikoff scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Konikoff has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Payton Devalda was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Cape Henry Collegiate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Cape Henry Collegiate's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Norfolk Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
