Waldport is 0-10 against Toledo since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Irish will take on the Boomers at 4:30 p.m. Waldport has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Waldport managed to slip by Central Linn the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Irish lost 15-0 to the Cobras on Monday. Considering the last time the Irish couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.
Meanwhile, Toledo entered their tilt with Myrtle Point on Tuesday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They blew past the Bobcats 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Boomers, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kealey Coxen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Gracee Retherford and Faith Retherford did most of the damage at the plate: Gracee went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Faith went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Gracee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaylee Barnhart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Toledo's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.8 runs over those games. As for Waldport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Waldport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Toledo struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
