Basketball Recap: Manteo Takes a Loss

Manteo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They fell 65-55 to the Hertford County Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 85-46 back in January.

Despite the loss, Manteo still got an impressive performance from Taylor Granitzki, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Granitzki a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Landon Sawyer, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 12 points and six rebounds.

Shimere Garris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hertford County, dropping a double-double with 35 points and 13 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Garris has scored at least a third of Hertford County's points. Rucker Nixon was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Manteo's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Hertford County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13.

Manteo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-47 defeat against Camden County on the 13th. As for Hertford County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-57 victory against Holmes on the 12th.
