Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seymour). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans a 20-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Seymour pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Seymour will square off against rival Torrington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.5, the Raiders 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Waterbury Career Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Wilby at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
